Property Lawyer Fees in Marbella
Fee structures vary between firms. Understanding how a lawyer charges, and what is included, makes it far easier to compare the options in front of you.

Common Fee Structures
Property lawyers in Spain typically charge in one of a few ways:
- Fixed fee — a set price agreed in advance for a defined scope of work, common for straightforward purchases
- Percentage of purchase price — a fee calculated as a percentage of the property's value, more common on larger or more complex transactions
- Hourly rate — billed by time spent, more typical for ongoing or disputed matters rather than a standard purchase
What's included can vary considerably — some quotes cover due diligence and contract review only, others extend through completion and registration. It's worth asking exactly what is and isn't included before comparing two quotes side by side.
What to Ask Before Instructing Anyone
- Is the fee fixed, or could it change if the transaction becomes more complex?
- Does the quote include disbursements (notary, registry, translation) or are these separate?
- What happens to the fee if the transaction doesn't complete?
- Is a written fee agreement provided before work begins?

Because fees and scope vary by firm, comparing more than one quote is usually the most reliable way to understand what's reasonable for your transaction. Find a Property Lawyer
